Greetings! I am in the final year of my Ph.D. program through the University of Texas at Austin, accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA), currently completing an APA-accredited doctoral internship at Morrison Child and Family Services. I look forward to serving your community through the wonderful work done here at MindSights.
Throughout the last five years of doctoral training, I have developed my clinical skills in the areas of clinical child psychology, school psychology, and diversity studies. Specifically, I have gained diagnostic and therapeutic training working in public and charter school settings, school-based mental health clinics, outpatient community mental health centers, and an inpatient residential treatment facility in the central Texas area. Observing psychology practiced across these diverse sites has deepened my understanding of how psychological assessment can be harnessed for the betterment of children, adolescents, and the caregivers invested in their well being. Utilizing a cognitive-behavioral and interpersonal framework, I have supported families with questions surrounding neurodevelopmental conditions, learning differences, challenges with personality and mood disorders, trauma, and complex family dynamics. I have also undergone specialized training in bilingual and bicultural assessment for Spanish-speaking families of varying generational identities, with my current research focusing on the ways Latinx folk experience interpersonal connection in community.
In addition to viewing assessment and psychological evaluation as a tool for diagnostic clarification and psychoeducational placement, I utilize a scientific, human-centered methodology to mobilize treatment, bringing families towards a more wholesome understanding of themselves.
