Hazel S. Rosete, Psy.D.

About Hazel (she/her/hers)

I am a licensed psychologist in the states of California and Oregon. I believe psychological testing and the evaluation process is a useful tool for caregivers, parents, and systems to better understand a child’s strengths, needs, and areas of growth so that they can thrive in their everyday life. Psychological testing can also be a powerful way to provide targeted interventions and advocate for a young person’s needs at home, school, work, and in the community. I collaborate and partner with families and other providers in a young person’s life throughout the evaluation process, and I work hard to understand the environment in which a child is embedded in (e.g., family, community, culture). As such, I believe it is important for the significant people in a child’s life to actively participate in the evaluation process as they are the true experts of the child. I also believe that it is important for young people, no matter the age, to learn about their own strengths and areas of growth throughout the assessment process.

I have a wide variety of assessment and therapy experience working with both children and adults across the lifespan in multiple settings and states (e.g., community mental health agencies, hospitals, schools), in addition to experience working towards promoting systems level change in organizations. My areas of expertise and interest include working with babies and young children, caregivers and children involved in the foster care system, autism evaluations, developing the overall health and well-being of organizations and agencies, and advocating for the demarginalization of minority groups through systems level change. I am also rostered to provide Child Parent Psychotherapy (CPP) for young children who have experienced trauma.

I completed my pre-doctoral internship at the Center for Multicultural Training in Psychology at Boston University/Boston Medical Center. I completed one year of a post-doctoral fellowship in organization development at the Veteran’s Health Administration National Center for Organization Development in Cincinnati, OH, and I also completed a two-year APA accredited post-doctoral fellowship at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles – USC University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities specializing in infant and early childhood mental health.
